15 years EXIST - BMWi launches improve supporting innovative start-ups

On 27 and 28 March 2014, EXIST the support programme of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) celebrated its 15th anniversary with a total of approximately 450 guests in the Berlin location ewerk.

State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy (BMWi), Stefan Kapferer, opened the Congress and announced an expansion of the EXIST-founding program: "15 successful years EXIST are reason and incentive to further expand this successful start-up program in the EXIST founder scholarship. increase, for example, funding for new businesses. Graduates of a university will receive in future a monthly start-up grant of 2,500 euros instead of 2,000 euros a month. In addition, the funds for investment in the EXIST Business Start-up Grant and the EXIST Transfer of Research be raised significantly. The subsidy for investments in start-up teams is to be tripled from 70,000 today to up to 250,000 euros in future in the framework of the EXIST Transfer of Research. The higher funding requirements for the construction of demonstration systems and prototypes will so be taken into account."

Since 1998, BMWi sent decisive impulses for university-related start-up activities with the programme EXIST. EXIST has leveled at almost every German university the way to a new entrepreneurial culture and more entrepreneurship and mobilizes numerous technologically very demanding start-ups in the academic environment. A total of more than 1,700 innovative and technology-oriented start-ups have been promoted. EXIST has become now one of "the" national and international quality seals for knowledge-based start-up team from Germany.
